Tell Me Why
Many creatives will tell you that storytelling matters for your brand. And they’re right.
But, for us, the word “storytelling” conjures up images of hardcover books of fairy tales and campfires haunted by ghost stories. We believe companies feel the same way when they are pitched on the importance of telling their story.
Storytime? No thanks. Save it for beddy-bye.
But that would be missing the point. So let’s introduce a new word to describe telling a brand story: whytelling.
Same story, different word.
Successful brands use stories to tell their customers, returning or new, why they should choose Brand X. Whytelling proves to a customer through visuals, copy, and engagement why their lives will become better with a particular product.
Why should they spend their money? Why should they choose Brand X over a competitor? Why should they trust Brand X to improve their life? Why should they care?
Whytelling isn’t just about words. It’s about imagery. It’s about values. It’s about why-do-you-want-to-belong-to-this-club?
Whytelling makes a product or service relatable.
Whytelling creates an emotional connection between a brand and a customer.
Whytelling is the true story behind your brand that makes it unique.
Tell your why.
